BIG AGRICULTURE in a small setting
The BC Farm Writers' Association (BCFWA) is excited to host the 2013 Canadian Farm Writers' Federation (CFWF) conference October 4-6, 2013, in Harrison Hot Springs. The Harrison Hot Springs Resort, on the southern shore of Harrison Lake in the Fraser Valley, will serve as home base for the conference.
The 2013 conference in a nutshell:
Arrive early for the Thursday, October 3, pre-conference tours: ‘Up the Creek’, a half day boat tour up the Harrison River, or ‘Round the Mountain’, a day-long bus tour to the Nicola Valley’s ranchlands. There will also be an opening reception at 7 p.m.
Friday’s tours will feature two bus tours in and around Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Agassiz, as well as the first ever CFWF Cycle Farm Tour of farms, processors and research facilities in the Agassiz-Harrison area. (Don’t worry, it’s flat and we’re packing a cooler!)
Saturday will focus on professional development sessions, followed by an awards banquet and an evening of fun. We’ll wrap up the conference on Sunday morning with breakfast.
Be sure to keep an eye on the CFWF Facebook page and BCFWA Facebook page and Twitter for breaking news! (Please use #CFWF2013 when tweeting about the conference.)
It's a wrap!
Thank you to all the speakers, participants, farmers, hotel staff, sponsors and myriad others who helped make the conference a memorable event. We had a blast and learned a lot!
Our work is not quite done yet, though. We'll be posting a few photos, as well as presentations from the professional development day.
In the meantime, check out AgWired's awesome photos on Flickr, and feel free to upload your own to the CFWF 2013 Flickr group.
Harry the Sasquatch approves!
